Mr Trevis, ably supported by volunteers, hosted a quiz evening last night to raise funds for a nominated charity from within the staff community. The charity of choice was Horatio’s Garden at the Duke of Cornwall’s Spinal Treatment Centre in Salisbury which is a pioneering rehabilitation project named in memory of Horatio Chapple who helped with the research for the garden whilst working as a volunteer before commencing medical studies. For more information open the following link Horatio’s Garden. Mr Rhind-Tutt from the Music Department, is raising funds for this worthwhile cause and was one of the first to submit a team for the event. Mrs Baker, Mrs Kinnersley and Mrs Wallis joined forces with Miss Bolt and Mr Hill from the Science Department to form the strong H2o team but despite an early lead, fell to joint second place behind Mr Rhind-Tutt’s team, The Levellers. There were approximately fifty people at the event including the Headmaster and his wife. Nancy Burrell, Charlie Dakin, Alex Bowring and Rebecca Teague from the sixth form kindly marked the answer sheets and assisted with the activities whilst Miss Ritzaki from The Design Technology Department kept the score. The evening also included a raffle and a “Heads and Tails” game which was won surprisingly by Mrs Kinnersley. Mr Trevis gave thanks to all for attending and especially for the generous donations to the raffle prizes. Final thanks were given by Mr Rhind-Tutt to Mr Trevis for organising such a thoroughly enjoyable evening which raised £400 for the Garden project.
