Student Presents Video Project for EPQ

An outstanding  and totally original video and poster project formed the focus of the last Extended Project to be submitted this academic year. Over the last two terms Sophia Hotung has been investigating whether the character Holden Caulfield in Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye has ADHD. A technical  as well as an academic project, Sophia had to learn how to use video software and special production techniques such as split screen shots to produce a 2-part 30 minute documentary during which she has debates with her “other self”.  Not only did Sophia have to analyse the book in great depth and scrutinise Holden Caufield’s actions, but extensive research was also necessary to fully understand ADHD. Both amusing and entertaining, the video is a fine example of how an EPQ project can cover several  serious subject areas.
