Millfield Celebrates Earth Week 2024

Millfield Library has been part of the school’s week long drive to mark Earth Week 2024. Starting with Earth Day on Monday 22nd April, the Library has provided a focal point for information and ideas to better understand the challenges and possible solutions to the ongoing environmental crises.

Millfield Library has a huge wealth of books, magazines and other resources to investigate ecology, environmental systems, conservation, climate change and much much more. Check out the sample of our Earth Week resources for loan below and also Teddy H’s excellent Earth Week Read, Watch Listen List:

Students and staff have been encouraged to make a pledge to help the planet by to changing their behaviour in some small (or big) way. These pledges have been written on recycled paper tags and tied to our (you guessed it) recycled cardboard our Earth Week Pledge Tree.

The Global theme for Earth Day 2024:

Planet vs. Plastics.

Planet vs. Plastics unites students, parents, businesses, governments, churches, unions, individuals, and NGOs in an unwavering commitment to call for the end of plastics for the sake of human and planetary health, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040 and an ultimate goal of building a plastic-free future for generations to come.
